Matthew Gettinger has been a valued member of the Sutton Law Group team since 2012, as a specialist in commercial and general liability litigation and workers’ compensation litigation.

Originally from Arkansas and raised in the Detroit metropolitan area, Matthew attended the University of South Carolina Honors College before earning his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida Levin College of Law.

Matthew is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts; all Georgia State and Superior Courts; the Georgia Court of Appeals; the Supreme Court of Georgia; and the United States District Courts for the Northern, Middle, and Southern Districts of Georgia.

Recognized annually as a Super Lawyers Rising Star since 2020, Matthew has developed a reputation as a trusted advocate defending workers’ compensation claims for employers, insurers, self-insured companies, and third-party administrators throughout Georgia. This is a direct result of his continuous effort to provide strategic counsel and effective litigation management tailored to each client’s objectives.

Matthew is actively involved in the legal community and has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to professional leadership and service. He is a member of the Workers’ Compensation Section of the State Bar of Georgia and served four terms on the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Georgia Young Lawyers Division. He has also contributed to the profession through service on the State Bar of Georgia Bench & Bar Committee. In recognition of his leadership and service, he has received multiple honors from the State Bar of Georgia. In addition, Matthew serves on the Board of the Atlanta Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section and is a long-serving member of the Cobb County Bar Association.

Outside of his practice, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife, Michelle, their daughters, and their dog. An avid sports enthusiast, he remains a dedicated supporter of Detroit’s professional sports teams and the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
